ST JOHN PARADES AT INDEPENDENCE CEREMONIES

Under the command of Platoon Commander Kennedy Emmanuel a platoon of St John Cadets participated in this year’s Independence Parade.

As Saint Lucia observed its 35^th year of Independence, St John Saint Lucia saw it fitting to participate in this important milestone commemorating our country’s nationhood.

A platoon of 33 students from the Choiseul Secondary School took the lead in helping to bring back St John’s participation in our country’s Ceremonial Parade.

From December 2013 with the assistance from the St Lucia Cadet Corps and Officers attached to the Southern Division of the Royal Police Force a group of over sixty (60) pupils of the Choiseul Secondary School have been tirelessly rehearsing for that great day.

Together with both armed and unarmed contingencies our Cadets paraded and saluted to the President of St John Saint Lucia, Governor General Dame Pearlette Louisy, DStJ at the SAB Sporting Facilities in Vigie Castries.

“We are extremely proud and thrilled to have participated in our country’s 35^th Independence Parade,” Glenn Wilson Staff Officer of St John Saint Lucia commented. “It has been a long time for us and we feel honoured to have been asked to take part. The students have been eagerly awaiting this day and despite being up from 4 this morning as well as coming from as far as Choiseul, Saltibus and Soufriere to be here today, the energy level after such a long period of standing is awesome. It truly demonstrate true patriotism in our young and future leaders of this great country of ours.”

Chief Commissioner, Nigel Worrell was very pleased with the parade and was commended by our Governor General on a job well done! According to our Chairperson, Debra Worrell the Prime Minister along with other dignitaries shared their pleasant surprise and congratulatory messages to the members of St John and our platoon of Cadets.

The work of others including the Principal of the Choiseul Secondary School, St John Cadet teachers, Mr. Christopher Hudson and Ms. Enda Charles as well as the parents of the students cannot go unnoticed. Thanks to all who made this possible including the St Lucia Cadet Corps especially Captain Peter Jn. Baptise, the Royal St Lucia Police Force including ASP Moses James and Staff Officer Elvis Thomas.
