OFFICER BROTHER DESMOND MCNAMARA PASSES

It is with much sadness that St John announces the passing of Officer Brother Desmond McNamara, one of St Lucia’s most distinguished attorneys who passed away on Monday 02 June 2014.

 

Brother McNamara was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn in 1946 and in St Lucia in 1947.  In the following year, 1975 he established NcNamara and Company where is served as a senior partner until his retirement in 1977 when he became a company consultant.

 

He worked for many years ‘in the service of humanity’ here in Saint Lucia under the St John Ambulance banner.  On 16 November 1988 he was awarded the honour Officer Brother of the Most Vulnerable Order of St John.

 

He also served as Chairman of the Public Service Commission and Public Service Board of Appeal, St Lucia Electricity Services Ltd., and the Boy Scouts’ Association.  For fourteen years he served as St Lucia’s non-resident Ambassador to the Holy See in Rome.

 

The St John Association of Saint Lucia wishes to express sincere condolences to the family of the late Officer Desmond McNamara. May his soul rest in peace.
